Property Details

Treat yourself to an unforgettable view of the Aegean in this peaceful "gated" seashore retreat. The fully furnished, two -bedroom, 150-square-meter sun-drenched villa makes a cozy and romantic getaway. An additional bedroom with its own private entrance, en-suite bath and veranda with breathtaking view, can also be used to accommodate large groups up to 8 people.

A large living room/dining room designed in a Greek classical style yet modern and very comfortable with an open concept kitchen, can easily accommodate 8-10 people.
The living room is painted light yellow with blue "stucco venetsiano" columns and hidden lighting. The flooring is made of light blue tiles with marble stairs and marble fireplace. It has air conditioning in addition to a ceiling fan.
Through the large three windows a breathtaking view is lying at your feet! Literally, from the top of the hill you can see the famous Marathon beach with its unique blue waters. On a clear day one can see as far as Andros, Kea, Evia and several uninhabited islands. The sunrise over the island of Evia is an unforgettable experience.

A well-equipped kitchen with a pass through marble bar to the dining room is perfect for entertaining and enjoying the same view as the living room. A ceramic cook top and convection over, coupled with a microwave oven and a gas powered BBQ will meet most if not all of the requirements for a chef if cooking at home is your choice. Dishwasher, top of the line refrigerator, washer and drier, add to your comfort away from home.

The dining room is simply furnished with a 50s retro dining room table and chairs.

There are two large bedrooms and two baths in the apartment, and an additional bedroom with its own en-suite bath on the second floor.

The lower south facing bedroom has a good size loft and an en-suite bathroom. It can accommodate two-four people. It is well designed for a family or friends. The en-suite bathroom renders this bedroom an independent suite. The bathroom is beautifully tiled with custom design and has a shower. The loft accommodates two single beds, has its own window and overlooks the bedroom downstairs. It communicates with the downstairs with a spiral wooden staircase. The downstairs can easily be used as a sitting room. The bedroom opens to the primary veranda. The couch can be assembled as two single beds with a dividing side table, a queen size bed or a single bed and a chair divided by a side table. It has its own built-in closet. This bedroom is separated from the rest of the apartment by 6 steps to the living room.

The second bedroom on the other side of the kitchen has a queen size bedroom suite and a large built in closet. The bedroom window opens to a breathtaking view of the Aegean. The master bathroom has a full size bathtub/shower combination and is beautifully tiled with custom designs.

The third bedroom is on the second floor. It has two single beds, which can be set up as a king size bed (if required). It has its own en-suite bathroom and veranda and private entrance. It is air-conditioned.

The veranda off the living room and bedroom is 55 sq m with astounding views of the coast. If you are an early riser you can enjoy some of the most spectacular sun rises in your life. If sleeping until mid day is more to your liking, then you can enjoy the sunsets and night views of the coast. In the evening, thousands of small lights bordering the land in front of you complemented by the beautiful sky lit by thousands of stars will forever stay in your memory. The full moon nights are unforgettable. Just ask our other guests!

Area Description

Sxinias is an environmental park with three distinctively different kinds of terrain. The inland Sxinias plain is mostly marsh and a stop over for migratory fowl during the winter. The western part of Sxinias is characterized by a large crescent beach of fine sand with an umbrella pine forest providing shade down to the water’s edge. Many water related resorts and taverns are located within the forest providing fine foods, drink, and a variety of water sports. The gentle slope of the sandy beach is perfect for small kids and non-swimmers alike as the crystal clear waters remain waist deep hundreds of meters out to sea. The eastern part of Sxinias is mountainous and separated from the western part by a distinctive narrow peninsula dashing out to sea. The mountain side is dotted with summer vacation villas. The peninsula and seashore are protected from development but access for spectacular swimming, snorkeling, and diving is allowed. This part of Sxinias is characterized by rocky seashore with deep water.

SCHINIAS BEACH: Schinias beach is located by the side of our hill, just 3 minutes away by car. The sandy beach is shallow and protected from waves, tides, and currents making it PERFECT FOR SMALL CHILDREN and adults alike. Because this beach along with the surrounding forest and wetlands has been declared a national park, the area is pristine, and void of any apartment buildings, night clubs, pollution and heavy traffic. Yahoo Travel rates Schinias Beach as one of the Top Ten Attractions in Athens. Their Webpage for Athens says: “the site of Schinias Beach, is one of the most beautiful bathing spots of Greece located near Marathon."

Schinias, Marathon is the birthplace of the Marathon Run and the back door to Athens and its airport. Because Schinias hosted several events for the Athens 2004 Olympics, the Greek government built a four lane divided expressway for the easy access the Olympic Committee required between Schinias, the airport and downtown Athens. In addition our local bus system was modernized and has many connections with the excellent mass transit system (subway, rail, tram, and bus) of Athens.

NIGHTLIFE: Privacy and nature beauty is what our community offers. Nightlife is only a few minutes way, a short ride to the nearest town. Go out to eat, dance and mil around in the square, go shopping, watch the people, and the come home away from it all.

EXCURSIONS: You want to go see the islands for a day or two, or just a few hours, you have several oportunities to do so. The port of Rafina is 30 minutes away from where you can visit Myconos, Andros, Tinos and Karystos in a day.

Just down the hill from us within 10 minutes at Agia Marina, you can take the ferry across to Evia, take a ride, and be back for dinner. There are several day trips one can take to the Peloponnesus, such as to Corinth, Mycenae, Delphi Loutraki etc.

If you want to go into Athens, you can leave your car at the station, and take the beautiful, clean air-conditioned bus into Athens and leave the driving to the Greeks. The bus stops at the foot of our hill 3 times a day. Or you can pick it up from the town of Marathon (10 minutes away) every hour on the hour. Within 1 hour you will be at the metro station from where you can go anywhere you please. The national highway is within 30 minutes form the villa. If driving and exploring the mainland is to your liking, it is quick and easy.

Transport

A car would be necessary
A private car is recommended. In the summer, the bus stops at the bottom of the hill and takes you into downtown Athens in 45 minutes. A 4 lane highway is 5 minutes away (Marathon Rd), which provides easy access to the Athens metro system within 20-30 minutes.
The international airport is less than 30 Km form Schinias, accessible via 4 lane highway, thanks to the 2004 Olympics!
